OUR SURGERY SERVICES
At Ann Road Animal Hospital, we know how important choosing the right veterinarian for surgery is. That is why we are happy to provide our clients with the best veterinary care. Surgical procedures are performed at Ann Road Animal Hospital Monday through Saturday.
Our Approach to Surgical Care
- Pre-Surgical Consultation: Before any surgery, we conduct a thorough examination and diagnostic testing to assess your pet’s health status and ensure they are well-prepared for anesthesia and the procedure.
- Advanced Anesthesia Monitoring: During surgery, our dedicated team monitors your pet’s vital signs closely using state-of-the-art anesthesia monitoring equipment to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Post-Surgical Care: After surgery, we provide attentive post-operative care, including pain management and monitoring, to promote a smooth recovery and alleviate discomfort.
- Client Communication: We understand the importance of keeping pet owners informed and reassured throughout the surgical process. Our veterinarians take the time to discuss procedures, answer questions, and provide guidance on post-operative care at discharge.
Preparing for Surgery
- The owner, or authorized agent, dropping off an animal for surgery must be at least 18 years old. It is important that no food be given after 10:00 pm the night before; and no food or water should be given the day of surgery. Vaccines are required to be current for all patients having surgery and all vaccination history must be provided prior to meeting with the veterinarian.
- We also advise pre-operative lab work to test kidney and liver functions (the main organs that metabolize anesthesia), complete blood counts, and blood glucose levels. Our patients are closely monitored throughout surgery using EKG/pulse oximeters. Fluids and pain medications are administered through an IV catheter. Pain management will be used for all procedures that cause some degree of pain or discomfort.
- If an estimate is need0ed, we are happy to schedule you with an appointment to be seen by one of our veterinarians. Contact us today 702-579-9111.
