My maltese gave birth to 4 puppies on 8-8-11. My question is how soon should The vet check out the mom and babies? Also How do you know all of the afterbirth has come out?

The dog that has not passed placenta will act sick, have a fever and not want to eat. May even vomit. If your pet is acting normal i would not worry. If concerned please come see us we could do a physical on both mom and pups at any time. The pups will be due for the first vaccinations at 6 weeks.
